Adrianne will join us on Monday, January 12, 2015 – but please welcome her now.
Adrianne’s Introduction:
I feel so fortunate to have found SugarFree and her Protocol. I am forty, 5′ 5″, and weigh 215 pounds. My blood tests show that I am severely insulin resistant, slightly hypothyroid and in the sub-basement of Vitamin D, B12 and Ferritin levels. Reviewing my test results with SugarFree was an eye-opening experience. It’s amazing how my body tried (and somewhat succeeded) to take care of itself even though I was constantly sabotaging myself by eating mostly processed foods and a lot of sugar.
For most of my adult life I was 150 pounds. I was active duty military for almost a decade and effortlessly maintained my weight. Seven years ago I got kidney cancer and left the military. After my (successful) surgery I began to gain weight and found it impossible to stop. I tried HCG, lost sixty-five pounds – which, as I know now, ‘worked’ only because I starved myself daily – tried to transition back to normal eating and promptly gained back almost everything. Even worse, I gained it back as a tire of fat around my middle. I am very much looking forward to healing myself on Protocol and being able to enjoy a long and healthy life.

I slept very soundly last night and an hour longer than I normally do, managing to get in a full eight hours. I woke up easily this morning and haven’t felt much hunger or cravings.

Protocol Round 1, Week 1, Day 3 – 1/14
Weight: 209.6 = down 1.6 pounds
Meal:
– 12 oz pork chop
– 8 oz kale
– 7 oz mustard greens

2-hour PP (after meal): 98
Wow, that high 2-hour PP! Is it safe to assume rice is not my friend? I’ve been sleeping very soundly and seem to need more than usual. The last couple of nights I’ve gotten seven-eight hours where I normally only get six. I haven’t been waking up in the middle of the night overheated and that’s a huge plus. I feel great with lots of energy and no hunger. I can already tell my tire around my waist is smaller. Yay!
[Note: It wasn’t the rice per se – it was your insulin being lazy. If your 2-hr continues to be higher than your 1-hr PP (and it may not), you might have Metabolic Syndrome XX, of which this is one symptom. As to your added hours of sleep, it’s not that you ‘only needed six’ – you actually need seven or eight every night – it’s that your body wasn’t functioning well enough to give them to you. :)]

Another 2-hour PP much higher than my 1-hr, but I’m happy it fell an hour later. I agree it must not have been the rice yesterday. After reading the blog post on Metabolic Syndrome XX, I think SugarFree’s theory could be spot on. I’m starting to see some wonderful changes in my skin. I also started my supplements today and am excited to be putting good, whole food and quality nutrients into my body. It feels great to be proactive in my health.

First weekend on Protocol. A typical weekend after dieting all week would mean honey in my coffee and a few sugary cheats throughout the day. Today I woke up, missed my honey for a moment, and then carried on no problem. I haven’t craved sugar since starting Protocol (as SugarFree assured me would be the case) and that was true today as well.

Today felt downright decadent. I cooked the chicken thighs in cayenne, paprika, and lemon. Then I used the butter on my pasta with loads of garlic. Heaven! I’m starting to see the signs of detox in my skin and body. It’s a great feeling knowing I am healing my body and that my body is reacting to the changes.

[Note: Adrianne, I may have provided the knowledge – but you did all the work, and are reaping the rewards. 🙂 Well done.]

It doesn’t get better than a fatty pork chop on the grill! And it felt like cheating when I received my first comment at work about the weight I’ve lost and the glow I’m carrying. Feels great! Diets aren’t supposed to work and feel like this, right?
[Note: They aren’t, and they don’t. Luckily, Protocol is NOT a diet, so the weight and fat losses – and the glow – will, unlike the result of diets, last forever. 😀 Isn’t it wonderful to finally fix yourself from inside to outside, instead of bludgeoning the outside into (temporary) submission? So enjoy the compliments – you’ve got a lot more headed your way.]

I can’t believe I’ve only been doing this for eleven days and I’m already close to Onederland – for good! I refused to buy clothes any bigger than a 16 and when those got so tight I couldn’t breathe, I was willing to do HCG again out of desperation, even though it made me feel terrible. Now my 16’s get bigger every day and my stomach gets smaller – all while eating lots of wonderful fat and feeling fantastic. What a dream!

Surprise! TOM arrived. With no warning, no indications, no cramps, no bloating, no anything. That is definitely a first. I was up a pound this morning but obviously that’s just water weight. Normally I put on about three pounds of bloat but not this time! It’s easy to find good things to say about Protocol. I lost more weight and fat last week and I’m ecstatic with my results – doing something that feels so effortless and, at times, even decadent.
[Note: Adrianne, your ‘results’ are wonderful – another 3.75 inches of fat gone last week! The clothes you started Protocol with should soon be falling off you. And I predict you’ll be in Onederland soon. :D]

Onederland – you are a beautiful sight! Clothes that were super tight before I started Protocol are already big. I can see and feel positive changes in my body and emotional being every day. Maintenance meals are filling and extremely satisfying, and all the extra fat I get to eat tastes amazing.
[Note: Congratulations – getting into Onederland is a big accomplishment! You’ll probably go in and out of it for a few days, or even a week, since body weight fluctuates daily – but by next week you’ll be there for good. As wonderful as that is though, what’s even better is your realization by now – is that despite eating tons of good food and fat (and lots of calories) – you’ve gotten slimmer, not fatter. Kinda flies against the grain of Calories In, Calories Out common ‘wisdom’, no? :D]

I’m baffled and can’t reason why we aren’t taught to live the Protocol way from the time we’re little. Whole wheat toast with tons of butter on Tuesday, strawberries and ounces of heavy cream today. All while continuing to feel better and lose fat and inches. It is difficult to listen to my friends chatting about their CICO diets and hours spent on a cardio machine and not lose my mind. I just want to shake them!
[Note: You want to shake *them*? How ’bout shaking the Media, Medical and Pharma Industrial Complex for giving them the same erroneous, never-did and never-will work advice for the last HALF CENTURY? Maddening, isn’t it.]

Sunday is turning into new recipe day. We had Chicken Normandy for the first time. Oh my – I should’ve made a double batch. The boys are already asking when we can have it again. Bravo, SugarFree. Great recipe!
[Note: Glad you liked it. But in addition to a delicious dish – this turns out to be a VERY special day for you, so please mark it in your calendar. As of today you’ve lost twenty-one pounds – a full TEN PERCENT OF YOUR TOTAL BODY WEIGHT! This is a tremendous achievement that cannot be minimized. If you Google this kind of loss, you’ll see that Doctors would be thrilled to have a patient lose this much – in a year. You’ve done it in a month. And, unlike most patients who do manage to lose so much, you will keep off the loss forever. Congratulations! :D]

So many celebrations this week, with so much food and cake and frosting and cocktails – all things I used to have zero self-control around. It feels great to know I can thoroughly enjoy birthdays and anniversaries and baby showers (or tween showers in this case!) and not stuff myself silly and feel bloated and guilty afterward. I do look forward to the day I can add an occasional cocktail and a sweet treat to the mix but I know if I put in the work now it will be possible later. Staying strong!
[Note: Here’s some irony for you: by the time you can have that cocktail or ‘sweet treat’ it will taste so disgusting to you, and make you feel so awful (worst hangover ever, and I mean from the treat) that you’ll never want to drink or eat it again. Don’t ask me how I know. 😀
Once you’ve truly given up sugar, it’s almost impossible to go back. Desserts? Sure. Homemade deliciousness like peaches and cream, or almost-no-sugar scones, etc. But what you now think of as a sweet treat? Ick.]

I woke up super hungry this morning. I’m expecting TOM soon and I’m sure that has something to do with it. The good news is we’ve been out of school and work due to weather so we had homemade Chili Verde for lunch. Another yummy SugarFree recipe!

First day back on Phase 1 and I’m definitely missing all that yummy fat! But I feel great and look forward to what this round has to bring. I’ve lost almost 24 pounds and over 24 inches (four of that off my waist and another four from my hips) since starting in January. It has felt almost effortless. This is the first time in my life I’ve felt like I have control over my body. Truly life changing!
[Note: What’s even more amazing is the ten pounds and lots of fat lost during this Maintenance round – when you were eating all those calories and yummy fat. You know, what every other ‘expert’ in this field says is impossible. Now that’s really life changing! :D]

It’s funny that a few days ago you said that when my metabolism is healed sugar and wine won’t taste great – and might even be painful. We had a birthday party this weekend and there were lots of both. I asked my mom if I could smell her glass of wine. It smelled amazing but just didn’t tempt me like usual. I think I’ve kicked my obsession.
I know I don’t have to tell you how wonderful it is to eat so well and so much and still continue to shrink. I am really overwhelmed and incredibly motivated to stay on track. I love it! I haven’t tried my size nine jeans again. I’ll have to do that tonight. 🙂
I’m looking forward to my BBS workout tomorrow. It feels good to be back in the gym even if it is only for 15 minutes at a time.

I slept very well last night but woke up feeling like I needed more sleep. Also, extremely hungry today.
[Note: Just from the water weight gain (unlike your first try), I can tell you had a true BBS session and a great workout. You’re tired because your body is exhausted. And hungry because you have now gone into the most important part of weight training: recovery. That takes a lot of energy resources. :)]
