    I’m really glad I stumbled upon your site. I just finished a month on HCG and am in the 3 week stabilization phase. I had some lingering doubts about this diet and see that you have addressed many of them already. My thinking was that IF this HCG diet was accurate, as far as the science Dr. Simeons proposed, there had to be SOMEONE out there 40+ years later that had done research to either improve on the diet or explain some of the parts that didn’t seem to add up. I am looking forward to having the time to read all that is on your website in order to REALLY learn what it takes to lose fat, keep it off, and exactly what to eat to be healthy – not just thin.

    As I am in the “stabilization” phase of the HCG diet, and you propose that the odds are that I (or any other HCG user) will most likely have a problem keeping the weight off, do you have any suggestions as to what I should be eating or what I should be doing to up my odds of keeping the weight off (as opposed to what Simeons suggests to do during this stabilization phase ,”no sugar, no starch’ etc)? I dropped twenty-two pounds (195 down to 172 in 4 weeks – I’m 5’8″ – and have maintained that within two pounds for two weeks now with little trouble). I am certain that the answers I need are in your website, but would really appreciate a short answer, as I have no idea when I’ll be able to find the time to peruse your site more – which I definitely plan on doing!

    And, as others have already said, thank you for ALL your research and the time it has taken to gather all this information, put it in understandable terms, and sharing it with others. – Brigit

      Hi, Brigit – I’m glad you found the blog, and thank you so much for your kind words!

      Unfortunately however, I don’t think you’ll be happy with my reply as to what you can do to keep off the weight. That’s because although you lost twenty-two pounds on the scale, it was due to bludgeoning your body into it, and thus most of what you lost was muscle mass. And now, since you starved yourself and went into starvation mode, your body will once again go back to storing everything you eat as fat. Even worse, you did not fix the problem that made you fat to begin with: Insulin Resistance — and with your metabolic hormonal signaling still broken, you will ultimately gain all the pounds and inches back again. Since HCG itself does nothing but give you more adipose fat cells than you had when you began, and since Simeons’ diet does nothing but exacerbate Insulin Resistance and most often also causes Hyperinsulinemia — the HCG Diet syndrome is a gradually increasing downward spiral that does the opposite of restoring health. 🙁 And this is especially sad since none of it need be.

      Simply fix the root cause of your obesity — your Insulin Resistance — once and for all, and the pounds and inches will simply go away over time and, most importantly, never return. That is the “short answer” — but I’m afraid undoing all the metabolic damage takes months if not years. There is no shortcut to that.
